Mini Spares Articles - Historical Article-November 1995-Mini Spares Rally & Race
Rally and Race This very basic looking adjustable suspension cone was sent to us by an Australian company who have been producing them by the bucket load since the mid 80s. At minimal cost, the bolt and nut are as basic as the casting, but function perfectly. In Australia, cars are tested (Mon to check that all corner heights of the suspension are equal and this is the cheap fix. As customers say: "You can't see the part under normal circumstances, and it keeps the car on the road"! It looks a very primitive pre-runner to all the types that have appeared on the European Market!

It looks a very primitive pre-runner to all the types that have appeared on the European Market!

Mini Spares are now offering the Firebird Body/ Bonnet Conversion from Composite Designs. An interesting look, to say the least. Pictured is a version hinged at the front end, although a similar effect is had from the conventionally hinged type, available from Mini Spares at £450.00 per Body and Bonnet kit. Lamps are extra and prices are available on request.

RALLY •••
Spoke to john Horton, Championship Co-ordinator of the 1996 Mobil 1 I Top Gear British Rally Championship, to see how entries to the 'Mini Challenge' were progressing. Heard that he had passed on 20 enquiries to another company, who are apparently doling out regulations. Group A regulations have been available for some time, under the umbrella of a body known as the F. I.A., and available through the RAC/MSA. Mini Spares can let you know how to obtain a set, (and homologations) without prejudice, so that you can make your own independent choice when it comes to parts ...
... AND RACE
Steven Young has had a great finish in the BARC Mini Winter Challenge at Donington Park on 22nd October. His Miglia finished 2nd out of 31 starters. A certain P. Baldwin, Esq., claimed top spot.

 MINI SPARES ON GRASS
1995 saw Mini Spares Centre involved with grasstrack racing for the first time, where we sponsored Class 1 Mini Racers. This is probably one of the most fiercely contested of all the
classes, as engine and chassis modifications are kept to a minimum, making for very competitive racing. Grasstracking is very affordable for the man in street, although at national level ,figures of £ 1 ,000+ can be spent on engines alone!
The National finals were held at Abbey Farm, nr. Malton, North Yorkshire. This year saw Colin Hadley (West Midlands League) win the Mini Spares Centre sponsored Class 1 Trophy, and another outright Class 5 Mini win for Gerald Ford (Kent League}, after a six lap nail biting final against the Ford power ofYorkshireman Les Grice. Our thanks to all those racers who ran Mini Spares stickers on their cars at the Nationals, all of whom will continue to receive discounts from purchases made at Mini Spares North.
See you next year!
