£4000 buys you this exquisite conversion including Tonneau cover, and all flares painted and fitted.  You supply the car and transportation costs!  If your budget doesn’t stretch to the full conversion, consider the flare kits on their own, which are now available.

Many convertibles have appeared over the years, often for strange reasons.  In the 1960’s, for example, Heinz order 57 of them to be made, then immediately gave them away as competition prizes.  Serves them right for having so many varieties.

In Jersey, where the climate is a touch more reliable than the UK, Crayfords exported several dozen cabriolets for the tourist industry.  I could just imagine Bergerac cruising along the lanes of Jersey in his spotless Triumph, furiously dodging hundreds of maniacs in Mini convertibles.
