PARTS YOU CAN DEPEND ON FROM MINI SPARES

Parts are still becoming obsolete from Rover quicker than we can produce them, but we are still hitting our target of three new parts per month.  Production on some parts such as the right hand petrol tank have taken a back seat as we are putting all our energies into the five speed gearbox, fuel injection for the 8 port head and electric timing management control system.  To date Mini Spares Centre carries over 6000 different types of parts with tooling on over 150 items owned solely by us at a cost of nearly £1/4 million.  This figure is not hard to realise when tooling costs on each alloy road wheel is in the region of £6000, badges and bezels are £2000 for each one.  Even tooling for small brackets can cost up to £500 and con rods, inlet manifolds, etc., all well over £1000.  The tools, cutters and die cast moulds on the five speed gearbox were £20,000 plus.  There are also hundreds of items made solely for Mini Spares although we might not own all or any of the tooling.  Heritage are also able to supply some parts which obviously saves us tooling costs in some cases. Mini Spares has always stocked genuine BL or Rover parts as there are few good substitutes on major or hard parts.  To compensate for the high cost of non availability of some genuine parts, we offer comparable parts at much cheaper prices to fulfil customer demands, but only if the product is good enough.  Our proudest claim is that we back Britain and every part except for one is manufactured here.  This way we can control quality and ensure parts reproduced are exact or better than the originals which were probably designed or made over 25 years ago, when materials and machinery were not as sophisticated.  Our testing ground for all the mechanical parts is the Mini driven by Myk Cable in the Mini Challenge series.  The Mini Spares car has won the championship twice in the last three years, which must be just about the best testimonial our parts could get!

PRECISION PARTS

As previously stated, some parts were designed for the Mini 850cc and Morris Minor 948cc over 30 years ago and natural progression saw them being fitted to power units up to 127cc, where they function adequately with minor modifications.  The parts were not however, designed to be used on tuned engines up to 1400cc with the kind of power outputs so common these days.  Much time, therefore has been spent with metalurgists and engineers on producing more accurately machined parts in different specification material, such as layshafts, diff pins, oil pumps, rockers, bulk rings, gears, studs, bolts and nuts.  (Our aim is to keep Minis thriving in the modern world and throughout the 1990’s).
