Silverstone - Never Underestimate the Mini

The Maddog Team headed to the power circuit at Silverstone for round 7 of the QMN championship. With dry weather forecasted The Mini should be in its element.

Will The Mini be strong or weak on this power circuit?

Qualifying on a full dry set up was terminated with a multi car crash on lap 4. Unfortunately qualifying was curtailed which meant the Mini would be starting race 1 4th in class, and 20th place on the grid.

Race 1, saw The Mini making steady progress through the field with various machinery, finishing a respectable 2nd in class and 11th overall. This finishing position elevated the Maddog team closer to the class winner on the grid for race 2.

Race 2,
Another rolling start was the order of the day, this is designed by the organisers as a safety measure to avoid a major accident involving a stalled car on the grid. The benefit to the mini is paramount to its starting speed. As with race 1 progress was made rapidly and soon involved a hammer and tong battle with our main rival the high spec Clio Cup Car.

A good move was pulled under breaking at the hair pin and the Mini managed to take a deservedly 1st in class with an incredible 4th overall and a new class record to boot.

The maddog Team can give themselves a pat on the back as this was a significant win on a circuit with cars of larger horse power and engine capacity.

The organisers also voted Bill as Driver of the Day.
How Good is that???
