Brands Hatch in Kent was the latest venue for the Super Mighty Minis Championship. With the end of the season in sight, Round 10 would be crucial for the championship runners. The fast flowing nature of the Indy circuit would play into Alex’s driving style as he comes to this round keen to make an impact after the mixed fortunes of Oulton Park.

With the front of the car rebuilt it looked on the pace as qualifying got underway. Comis ended the session on the 3rd row of the grid with just 6 tenths between himself and pole. “I think I could have done better, but with new brakes I was taking it easy.

It should be a good race though with us all so close, I can’t wait”. With the late summer sun gracing the track, the Supers were soon on the grid with all eyes on the lights for the start. Another textbook launch saw Comis catapult from 6th to 3rd by the epic 1st corner of Paddock Hill Bend.

The lead trio soon broke away from the squabbling pack. Some of the closest racing of the season yet soon saw 10 cars fighting for the same piece of tarmac. Audacious yet clean overtaking was the order of the day, and no lap followed the same order. This was fantastic racing! Comis was soon fighting with the pack, mid race saw him drop back, but some inspired moves saw him cross the line in 5th though after a 20 minute race, only 9 tenths of a second split the dominant winner James Young and Alex in 5th! “That was the best race of the season.

The driving of everyone was on the limit and clean. I think we gave the spectators quite a race. It’s a shame I didn’t do better than 5th, but is was a bit of a lottery at the line” For the finale the Championship move to Snetterton for rounds 11 and 12 on the 12th & 13th October. As the Championship stands, it’s all to play for and after the fantastic display at Brands Hatch, it’s sure to be a classic end to one of the most competitive seasons.
