After returning from the French rounds of the Championship, the Super Mighty Minis moved closer to home for round 4; the world famous Silverstone circuit.

Morning qualifying saw a confident Comis nail a Pole position lap time that no one got close to for the last half of the session.

Overjoyed with his result Alex was already concentrating on the race ahead. “Absolutely fantastic, that’s my 1st career pole! The easy bit is done; the hard part will be getting to the chequered flag in 1st place, but I’m confident I can do it too”.

As the cars completed the warm-up lap for the race, Comis lined up at the front of one of the most historic grids in the world. With both Alex and the 2nd place car of David Kirkpatrick making solid getaways, the race was on as they squabble for position into the first corner. As they turned in side-by-side Comis immerged ahead but by the end of the 1st lap Alex was relegated to third as the following cars made use of his aerodynamic wake along the back straight.

By half distance Comis was fending off advances from the chasing pack, at time the leaders were up to 4 abreast entering the stadium section leading to the start finish straight. Suddenly Alex’s pace launched him into podium contention but unfortunately just too late as the chequered flag was finally dropped. Just 1.5 seconds split the race winner and Alex in 4th place. Back in the paddock Comis explained his strategy. “I wasn’t worried about being passed as the leader makes a hole in the air for the following cars who will therefore be faster.

Unfortunately my tyres started to work for me at about half distance just as the leaders tyres seemed to be deteriorating. I caught them at an amazing rate, I absolutely drove the car on the limit to catch them too, it was just a lap too late!” The added consolation of gaining a point for fastest lap of the race also demonstrated the pace of the car and driver. With rounds 5 & 6 at the epic Donnington park on the 17th & 18th June Comis will be looking for his 1st career win!
