From short Indy circuit at Brands Hatch, the Super Mighty Minis Championship moved epic Snetterton in Norfolk for the penultimate 2 rounds of the Championship.

Thankfully the weather was looking more settled that at Brands with the sun breaking through for qualifying. Comis was out of the blocks early and keen to hook up with other competitors at a circuit where aerodynamic tow can make a huge difference on times. An unusual error on the brakes saw Comis dive up the escape road at the end of the Bentley straight. This was pivotal as this left Comis out of phase with the pack. At the end of the session, Comis could only manage a 5th row start.

“Well, that wasn't part of the plan. After my error, I backed right off waiting for the pack to come around but on such a big circuit, I think the pack just got fragmented so I just had to go for a lap at the end where I ended up with backmarkers. Hopefully I'll be able to make gains in the race”.

Race 1, and Comis in the Mini Spares car got an absolute flying launch taking 3 positions by turn 1. On the exit of the hairpin Comis was tagged and lucky to escape without terminal damage to the rear tyre. Through Oggies and another place gained with a dive up the inside. By the start of the 2nd lap Comis was up to 5th and past fellow Championship contender Jo Polley with Nev Kirkpatrick now next in his sights. Jo was not about to give up and by mid-distance, this was now a 3-way battle for the podium. For the rest of the race these 3 we're taking no prisoners and swapping places every corner and straight. On to the Bentley straight for the last time and Comis had the tow from Jo and made the pass. Now all he had to do was defend to the line. And defend he did taking a brilliant 3rd.

Out of Parc Ferme Comis talked us though his rase;

“That was hard work. I got a great start but was worried the contact on the right rear might have punctured the tyre. From then on I just had to get my head down but Jo and Nev were never going to be easy to get ahead of. 3rd place is pretty good given qualifying.” Race 2 and Comis got another flying start from 5th to be up to 4th by turn one and up to 3rd by Agostini. On to lap 2 and Comis was up to 2nd and hunting down other Championship contender, Nev Kirkpatrick. On to the Bentley straight Comis had the legs on Nev and took the lead into Brundle. On to lap 3 and the lead was short lived as Kirkpatrick and Conner O'Brien had the tow from Comis. In to the last third of the race and Jo Polley was now back in the mix and challenging Comis. Seemingly struggling with the Car, at the flag, Comis had to settle for 4th.

“It was a bit frustrating out there. I was really struggling with understeer which is not what you want going on to long long straights. It something we'll need to look at before Oulton but we got some valuable points here today which will hopefully help as the championship goes down to the wire.”

The finale and Championship decider will take place at the brilliant Oulton Park on the 20th and 21st of October.
