Castle Combe on a wet day is not the nicest place to spend a weekend at, never mind racing in such treacherous conditions.

However Andy Hack showed everyone how to master the torrid conditions by posting a qualifying time 1.4 seconds better than his nearest rival, Paul Thompson. Robert Howard made an impressive 4th on the grid in only his 6th race. At the start with black clouds looming the 18 car grid readied itself , Andy Hack made his one and only mistake of the weekend by not selecting first gear! His bad start made the rest of the pack scramble around him leaving him 6th at the end of the first lap with Paul Thompson enjoying the clear view at the head of the pursuing pack..

It again promised to be a great race in such bad conditions as Andy Hack quickly got by Howard on the second lap. By the third lap he was by Sarah Munns on the run into Quarry. By the start of the 4th lap Andy Hack was second to Paul Thompson and looking for a way past, Andy’s car control in such dreadful conditions was a delight to watch. By the 5th lap, Mark Smith pulled into the pits pushing Sarah Munns up to 4th place with Colin Peacock, James Lindridge and Aaron Smith close behind her.

Suddenly the rain got heavier and the safety car was deployed to the deteriorating track condition.

The chequered flag came out on the 9th lap leaving a jubilant Sarah Munns celebrating her first podium of the year, Paul Thomson was second to andy Hack who showed all his mastery of the wet conditions.
