Fitting instructions for 12A367 - Torsional Vibration Damper Ring
For any high performance engine an efficient crank damper puller is essential to minimise potential failure caused by harmonic vibration generated by the crank assembly. The standard type damper is barely adequate for the standard engine in normal everyday use. When used on up-rated engines to ANY degree, it has severe short-comings.
After an extensive test program using latest state-of-the-art equipment and modern technology know-how, Mini Spares concluded that the best, most effective (both in use and financially) harmonic/vibration damper was that developed for the very first 'S' engines. Consequently they reproduced this item.
It can be bolted to either the original type steel 'V' belt type crank pulley (C-AEG454) or the toothed-belt type as sold by Mini Spares.
It is absolutely essential to have this damper ring is balanced with the intended crank pulley prior to use due to manufacturing tolerances of crankshafts and associated componentry. Failure to do so may cause premature failure of the damper ring. Ensure both pulley and damper ring are marked so correct positioning can be achieved if damper ring is removed from pulley at any time.
