ROCKER SPACER KIT

Previous rocker spacer kits offered by various A-series specialists have largely contained just three spacers in various forms and materials. They all had one thing in common though – they were inadequate. The issues revolve around two basic problems – the varied position of rocker post and head studs through factory machining tolerance and the variety of widths of rockers arms. Even those rocker sets equipped with purpose-made spacers fall foul of the stud location issue. It is absolutely essential that where spacers are used they are free to rotate easily once assembled to the head and everything is torqued down. Failure to do so will cause excessive drag on the rocker gear and valve train, massively increasing localised temperatures and ultimately failure.
This could be just the rocker – but often more extensive damage is the end result. Most of which is expensive to repair. Bearing in mind the aforementioned, Mini Spares has seen fit to introduce a spacer kit that will work with just about all rocker types without having the inconsistently positioned studs cause binding/drag. The single longest spacer fits between the centre two exhaust rocker arms, the shorter two spacers between the inlet rocker arms on cylinders 2 & 3 positions. The shim washers should be used to space the rockers as centrally as possible over the valve stem tips. Fit one 0.040” shim washer between each side of the pedestals and each rocker arm to reduce wear as a starting point. Make up any excess side movement using the balance of the shims. Fit the assembly to the engine, torque down all the nuts and check that all three spacers rotate easily. If not, re-arrange shims until this is achieved.

Importation rules regarding vehicles are very specific: Only those over 25 years in age may be brought in to the USA without compilance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
