The C-AEG423 weighs some 4lbs less than the standard item.

To extend it's range of superior quality, light-weight steel flywheels, Mini Spares has produced this component to give the later model, SPi Mini owner the benefits from such weight saving. This component has the flywheel sensor reluctor ring machined into the flywheel itself. However, it is NOT compatible with the standard injection diaphragm/spring. The standard unit is not strong enough to cope with increased power outputs so to maximise clamping pressure this component requires a different diaphragm. It is imperative the correct diaphragm/spring unit be used (see below for part numbers) as the trigger gaps in the reluctor ring will be in the wrong position if used with the standard diaphragm/spring. The result will be an engine that will not run. It is also strongly advised that an up-rated clutch plate is used, but NOT the sintered race type.

Clutch cover part number GCC679 (Borg & Beck/Lockheed number HE3864) Clutch plate part number C-AHT596 recommended Alternative is to use clutch kit GCK151AF(Borg & Beck/lockheed number HK8150)which includes the correct clutch cover giving the clamping pressure required with the latest hi spec road clutch plate but C-AHT596 is the correct one to use. Before fitting the new MINISPARES flywheel, careful examination of the crankshaft taper for burrs and pitting is required as this could cause incorrect seating of the flywheel, which would lead to the two parts friction welding together at high RPM and irreversible damage to the crankshaft and flywheel. A fine valve lapping paste should be used to ensure the two tapers fit together as near perfect as possible, this can be confirmed by an even grey finish over the whole taper. The paste should then be washed off thoroughly and copper sulphate grease applied before the final assembly.

Importation rules regarding vehicles are very specific: Only those over 25 years in age may be brought in to the USA without compilance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
