Every Mini owner at some point will have an issue with a broken bolt or a stripped thread, due to the fine thread on the majority of bolts fitted to these cars. Whilst most are an easy repair, such as bumper bolts, others can be a lot more difficult to repair.

An ideal example of this is the bolt for the standard engine stabilisers into the block. The bolts for this are hard to access at the best of times, even more so on the post 1992 cars that have the brake Master Cylinder mounted over the top. This means that stripping or shearing the bolt, or both of the bolts is a real problem.

With access to the fittings already limited, drilling and tapping the block is likely to be a costly experience in both time and money. Fortunately help is at hand. We have kits available for the repair of either one or both of the block engine steady bolts for both small and large bore Mini’s regardless of age.

These kits are a simple bolt on item, meaning an easy home repair for those less mechanically minded. Used in conjunction with the Minispares Evolution engine steady bush, this should alleviate any further problems in the future. At the other end of the engine stabiliser, it has been known for the metal plates to snap.

The upper metal plate is also a bolt on item, but both the clutch and brake master cylinder will need removing in order to replace them. In extreme cases the lower bracket on the bulkhead will also need replacing, access is again a problem here as this item is spot welded onto the bulkhead
