The genuine bootlid fitted from 1988 where the seal sits on the car body rather than the bootlid itself. The only difference between this and the earlier BMP339 is that it does not have holes drilled for the boot seal clips.

Used on all MK1/2/3 bootlids there are 26 little holes drilled around the inner edge to hold the seal on and this kit contains the 26 clips. For single clips see 14A6585. Later cars 1988 on fitted a seal to the body only. (CKE10018)

This is the boot seal that actually fits on the car body which saved drilling holes in the bootlid. Fitted from about 1988 on.

These gaskets should be changed when replacing the hinges-this one goes between the bootlid hinge on the bootlid. See also 24A2176 for gasket on body.
