This is the plug that locks the rocker shaft in place via one of the 4 pedestal posts. Originally on the end pedestal it was moved inboard to the second post to help strengthen the shaft which sometimes flexed and broke.

Use this plate in place of the heater valve. For use any time the heater is removed!

Rocker covers should be held down by a nut with a washer to cover the seal and then this spacer. Available in chrome as a set SAC71L.

That tell tale puff of blue smoke when you first start is an indicator of worn guides or seals. Valve guides should be replaced with every valve job.
