The 1990-1 models of the Mini with 1275cc engines and HIF44 carbs use a AZX1817 mechanical fuel pump. Driven off the camshaft at the rear of the engine these pumps are generally reliable but when a diaphragm goes bad it can be very serious as often raw petrol/gas is pumped into the engine. This dilutes the oil and causes severe wear. When fitting, make sure the pump lever is on the cam lobe and not to the side.
For pre 1990 cars with 998cc use AZX1818
Fot later 1275cc cars with HIF38 carb use WND10005which has a 5/16" inlet pipe
