In 1964 the fuel gauge system was changed on the Mini (pre" 64 cars did not have a voltage stabilizer). It is necessary to match the gauge with the tank sending unit and the supply voltage…if your readings are way off…always full or empty or max 1/2 ...

If you have an early Mini saloon or Estate/Van or Pickup with the fuel tank sending unit held in by screws, this is the correct screw for you.
