Originally fitted to help rocker pad to valve stem alignment and reduce friction, the standard springs can also be replaced with solid spacers and these shims. The spacers including correct shim set are sold as a set C-AEG392[.

Rocker shafts wear fairly quickly. The upside to this used to be that the rocker bushes lasted longer, but later sintered rockers run without bushes. It is easier and less expensive to replace the rocker shaft!
