These screws were used on all A series engines that had simplex chains (duplex used countersunk heads AEA687 for clearance). These screws fitted into the main bearing cap holding the front timing gear plate to the engine.
Countersunk screw for holding the front palte to the crankshaft bearing cap on cars fitted with duplex gears to give the clearance required. 2 required per car.
